Let's just skip Ramadhan and jump straight to Eid, shall we?
Seriously.
That's what alot of ads and commercials seem to be conveying these days. It's absolutely shocking!
The first shocker came about a month ago, during a commercial break whilst watching the news, this commercial comes on :
"Come with all of your friends and family to (something) Plaza!! Wear your new Eid clothes and be entertained by our local artists in the spirit of Eid!!"
What??
Two months before Ramadhan you're already talking about Eid? and that's only one example out of many. It shows us that, sadly, to many many muslims Ramadhan has lost it's significance and is only looked at as the thresshold which must be crossed before arriving at Eid celebrations.A bothersome doorstep. And obstacle in the road before arriving to the real stuff; the festivities of Eid.
What happened? Dont Muslims look forward to the blessings of Ramadhan, the benefits, the great bounties to be acheived?
Dont let us be sidetracked by such callousness and commercialism based only on the Dunya dunya and more Dunya.
May Allah grant us the ability to perform our Ibaadah this Ramadhan to the fullest. And may Allah grant us rewards for our Ibaadah many times over Ameen...
Ready for Ramadhan everyone?

Asalaamu alaikum.
Argh! I know what you mean. Eid is going to be just as commercialized as any non-Muslim holiday.
Would you consider submitting this post (and any other Ramadan posts you may have up your sleeve) to the upcoming Muslimas Speak Up! Blog Carnival, inshaAllah? Details are at: http://writeoussisterspeaks.wordpress.com/2008/08/04/1075/
Wa'alaikum assalam sis! I would love to submit the post insha'allah. Oh and btw, you're the very very first human being to have commented on any of my posts and I am so happy right now :p
another shocking revelation came recently in Turkey (or was it Egypt) ppl are talking about Ramadan patch to lessen their hardship during fasting.
Come on!
Don't wanna fast, don't fast. Allah is not in need of our hunger and thirst. How shameful we are becoming arrogant and stupid like the age of jahiliyyah.
thanks for your post.
peace!
